Days ago, one of my students of grade three came up to me after class and said,"I can read the story books that my mom bought for me on the internet." "So what story are you going to read me this time?" I replied. "<>" She added happily.

You know, the moment she showed me the book, I thought this story could be way too much hard for such a student of grade three.(The time actually spent on learning English is less than a year.) Amazingly, she read it very well in a way that was pretty much consistent with the original recording of this story. "Hey, how did you manage to read so well?" I asked. "Just listen to the tape and follow." She answered with a pleasant smile. (The recording is supremely good!)

Here is the whole story as follows:

(shot by my cellphone)

See? This is natural English with vivid and understandable illustrations, which is just completely different from the textbooks of PEP primary English that they've been getting exposed to for years.

You know, one of the most important things that we cannot see from the current English textbook is authenticity and the way English goes. Believe it or not, check it out, guys. Here's one of the passages from PEP Primary English Textbook, Book8 Unit 4 Part A Let's Read.

(Oh, my! Is this English? Is that the way those English native speakers talk?

Look, even if the students would have a good grasp of the letter above, so what?
It will definitely lead to a dire consequence that most of the students would think, speak and write in a Chinese way, which, in fact, has been a commonplace in China. So, let's get down to this serious question, "Are we supposed to make a real change of the current English Textbooks of PEP, huh?" If it is doable, please do it ASAP.)
