——访世博会澳大利亚政府总代表萨琳德

早在今年二月，本刊记者就以《笑翠鸟带来友谊和智慧》为题，专门撰文介绍过上海世博会澳大利亚国家馆。细心的读者可能还记得一些重要数据：澳大利亚政府对上海世博会赋予极大的重视和关注，投入巨资兴建“锈色”可餐的澳大利亚国家馆，投入资金为参与历届世博会之最。在世博园区的场馆建设中一马当先，曾经取得一连串“第一”：第一个完成基础工程、第一个成功“封顶”、第一个在园区接通常规电源、第一个场馆总体工程竣工，成绩何等出色！
如今，整个展期已过一半。开馆以来，澳大利亚国家馆演绎了哪些精彩和辉煌，创造出什么奇迹和亮点？在接下去的日子里，澳大利亚国家馆还会给人们带来什么惊喜和愿景……记者冒着酷暑再进上海世博园澳大利亚国家馆，采访了上海世界博览会澳大利亚政府总代表萨琳德。

“期中考试”成绩优异

“很出色、很成功、很满意！”总代表萨琳德接受记者专访时快人快语，首先对澳大利亚国家馆的“期中考试成绩”给予充分的褒扬。
数字考量业绩、数字诠释辉煌，澳大利亚国家馆提供的“100天的澳大利亚馆数据材料”，堪称一份优异的“期中考试成绩单”，让我们看看这些非常有说服力的数字吧：
在这100天中，已经有450万名游客参观了澳大利亚展馆（这个数目相当于悉尼市的总人口），展馆平均日访客量为4.7万人次；售出的礼品中最贵的“澳宝”价值58.84万人民币，已出售13万份绵羊油、4.5万份澳大利亚牛肉派与1万份莱明顿蛋糕。
澳大利亚国家馆筹备组织124场贵宾商务活动，宣传澳大利亚在环境技术、能源、投资、教育、法律和施工服务、基础设施、农业产业、食品和葡萄酒以及旅游业方面的成就，邀请了澳大利亚国内9000名企业家、商贸精英、政府官员来到上海世博会参加贵宾商务活动，为澳中两国经贸往来牵线搭桥卓有成效。为了提升中外参观者对澳大利亚的认知度，澳大利亚国家馆在第二剧场播放了36095场电影，举办了1373场精彩纷呈的文化表演。来自维多利亚州的“空中飞人”表演队表演了400场令人叹服的空中杂技，沙洲酒吧乐队演奏了285场，354位澳大利亚顶尖艺术家表演了他们的拿手绝活……透过这些令人感叹的数字，我们看到了澳大利亚国家馆澳中两国近两百名工作人员辛勤劳动的汗水，看到了澳大利亚政府与人民对上海世博会的满腔热情和积极参与，看到了中国和中国人民对澳大利亚国家馆的欢迎和热爱程度。
萨琳德总代表告诉记者，澳大利亚国家馆举办的逾百场商业活动，显示出澳大利亚经济的多元性、深度和广度。特别是纳米科技与教育方面，澳大利亚在全球名列前茅，澳大利亚的很多大学都在全球百强之内。澳大利亚国家馆所邀请的近万名澳大利亚来宾，不是走马观花的游客，他们或是地位显赫的商务人士，或是政策的制定者、政策的执行者，或是企业家、学者。澳大利亚国家馆为这些业界精英提供平台，让他们与对应的中国同行零距离接触，力求加深了解、达成共识、互利双赢。
对澳大利亚来说，中国已是其最大的贸易合作伙伴，萨琳德总代表希望在此次世博会上展现澳大利亚在多种领域的创造力、科技、创新和专业性，让各国来访者看到一个别样的澳大利亚。虽然澳大利亚没有悠久的历史，但是，澳大利亚政府和人民希望展现一个有创造力、多样、和谐以及创新向前的国家。
由于总代表萨琳德和全体参展人员的共同努力，澳大利亚国家馆举办的活动不但形式活泼多样，而且有着丰富的内涵。今年六月，“分享世博经验”的澳大利亚昆士兰主题周开幕，西澳大利亚大学生命和物理学院院长畅谈在国际化和全球背景下怎样才能产生创新和研究的领军人物；在澳大利亚美丽诺论坛上，总代表萨琳德兴致勃勃地介绍澳大利亚羊毛产业及其创新；在澳中生物科技高层交流会上，2005年诺贝尔医学奖得主巴里·马歇尔教授作题为“诺贝尔奖——鲜为人知的故事”的精彩发言，所有听众都为之震惊。这位教授在1984年吞服含有大量幽门螺旋杆菌的培养液，“以身试菌”，证明该细菌会在人体中引发胃溃疡，从而打破了胃溃疡主要是由于情绪性的压力及胃酸过多所引起的传统理念。七月，澳大利亚国家馆举行“昆士兰杯”英语竞赛颁奖式，表彰优秀中国学生；也是在七月，来自悉尼大学音乐学院的爵士大乐队、打击乐团和萨克斯管乐团，作为“悉尼音乐学院音乐中国行”的组成部分，在上海世博会澳大利亚馆闪亮登场，为中外宾客提供美不胜收的视听盛宴。

更多惊喜还会接踵而来

还有一半旅程，还有更多惊喜。说起澳大利亚国家馆后半期的安排，萨琳德总代表显得胸有成竹、信心满满。
八月，是上海世博会澳大利亚国家馆的“大洋洲月”。为庆祝大洋洲月，澳大利亚国家馆请来阵容强大的澳大利亚土著艺术家团体，在“海纳百川”的上海，第一次吹起一股来自澳洲大陆、原汁原味的土著艺术旋风。从托雷斯海峡远道而来的土著艺术家们倾情献演，诠释澳大利亚土著文化的独特创意、无限激情和辉煌成就。艺术家阵容包括托雷斯海峡文化艺术团、莫宁顿半岛原住民舞蹈团和现代原住民歌唱团。还有来自澳大利亚中部的原住民视觉艺术家布朗和奥尔玛，她们展示了别具一格的帆布艺术。
澳大利亚的土著艺术值得关注。在那里，有二百五十多个不同的文化群体，每个群体都有自己的语言。他们有很多相同文化元素，又有其自身特征。原住民族创造出独特而神奇的艺术，其丰富的内容反映出他们的信仰与生活习俗，是记录原住民族精神世界与文化传统的“图像百科全书”。其鲜明的艺术理念和表现形式，更是充满着神秘和奥妙，让人产生无限的遐想。澳大利亚土著艺术以实用性和艺术性的完美结合，成为人类重要的文化遗产和艺术瑰宝。澳大利亚土著艺术是进入艺术史的艺术，也是活跃在今天的艺术。澳大利亚政府提倡多元文化，在土著艺术生态的保护上投以力量，使土著艺术得以传承并产生新的创造。
在介绍“大洋洲月”和澳大利亚土著艺术时，总代表萨林德高兴地表示，上海世博会是一个绝佳的机会，让澳大利亚展示了她文化的多元性及独特的历史。澳大利亚在亚太地区的独特地理位置，令她能从各方汲取灵感，并在亚太文化中产生强大的影响力。澳大利亚与太平洋邻国维系了长期的文化纽带，在世博会上进行这方面的展示“再合适不过了”。
澳大利亚国家馆继续定期举办由总代表萨琳德主持的“星光闪耀系列音乐会”，与来自其他国家馆的艺术家联合演出，展示澳大利亚卓越的艺术成就。
金秋十月，汇聚三十名中国和澳洲最杰出青年领袖的中澳青年论坛将从北京清华大学移师上海世博会澳大利亚国家馆。在三天的会议上，代表们将利用发言机会，充分探讨各个关键领域的议题，包括经济、亚太地区的国际关系局面、气候变化、文化、全球秩序的地缘战略平衡、多边组织以及全球治理等；会议同时还会邀请相关领域著名的专家，针对讨论的议题发表演说。
在回答记者“为了上海世博会，澳大利亚花了大资金、大手笔、大力气，希望得到怎样的好效果”的问题时,萨琳德总代表欣慰地说：“是的，此次投资是最大的，说明我们与中国合作的深度和广度在加大，我们注意到中国的市场竞争也非常激烈，我们愿意为中国提供可靠的支持，加深原来就已经很巩固的双边关系，加强两国人民的合作和友谊是非常重要的。”

光荣与梦想值得期待

在采访过程中，萨琳德总代表有两个特点给记者留下清晰的印象。其一是她作为政府总代表，深深热爱着自己的祖国澳大利亚，处处维护着祖国的美好形象，渴望改变人们对澳洲人的误解，希望人们对澳大利亚有更全面、更深刻的认知；其二是她十分珍视澳中关系和澳中友谊，日复一日地在为加强澳中两国的友谊与合作进行着不懈努力。
今年4月9日她离开澳洲到上海赴任，在接受媒体采访时她精神抖擞、侃侃而谈：“在世人眼里，澳洲人很懒散；躺在丰富的自然资源上，工作并不是很努力。但事实上，澳大利亚人受教育的程度非常高，我们并不是懒于进取的，我们想改变这种印象。实际上我们非常努力，这从我们经济的成功、国民的成功、民族的成功和澳大利亚国家馆的成功就可以反映出来。此次世博会并不是想简单地展示澳大利亚的风土人情，不希望澳大利亚的形象只是停留在一个资源大国的定位上，更期待让中国的观众们了解澳大利亚还是一个富有创造力、多元化的现代国家，澳大利亚在科技、教育等领域取得的成绩在世界上也是数一数二的。”要知道，前一日她离开澳洲，忙碌得很，一夜无眠，此时正在倒时差很不舒服哩。她让人们见到的不是懒散，而是澳大利亚绝大多数人所特有的勤奋和坚韧。
为何澳大利亚馆的吉祥物是一只名叫“鹏鹏”的笑翠鸟,而不是大家熟知的袋鼠和考拉呢？对于记者的发问，总代表萨琳德说笑翠鸟折射出澳大利亚人民独一无二的特性，并展现出澳大利亚人民的生活方式，也让人们跳出陈旧的老观念。中国人懂得澳大利亚，也许只停留在袋鼠、考拉，还有广阔的沙漠、丰富的矿产资源上，但澳大利亚馆更希望展示一个深层次的澳大利亚。让参观者每次来，都会有新的发现、新的体会。
萨琳德特别诚恳地表示，澳大利亚愿意向中国呈现经济的深度和创新的能力。现阶段，中澳两国间的合作多集中在采矿开发、资源等传统领域，她更希望两国之间可以在农业、信息技术、旅游、教育等领域有更多地发掘与沟通，以期获取未来更进一步的合作。通过世博会所结下的经贸等关系将会在两国长久地发展和延续。中澳之间是长期的关系，我们知道有很多国家正在为中国企业而竞争，但我们同中国是协作的关系，我们将共同努力确保两个热情而友好的国家在现有的关系下继续成长。萨琳德特别盼望澳中两国在金融服务与 法律服务等领域的交流合作加快步伐，取得更大的成功。
“女性在社会中扮演重要的角色，在澳大利亚和中国都是这样。你看，我也是女人啊。从联合国难民署媒体发言人，到澳大利亚驻黎巴嫩大使，再到现在的外交贸易部高级职员，我的工作让我可以代表自己美丽的国家。还可以四处走走，我很喜欢。”萨琳德说得好，也做得好。作为国土面积770万平方公里的澳大利亚联邦的政府总代表，她不负众望、当之无愧。

"Mid-term Examination ": Excellent!

"Very good, very successful, very satisfied! " Lyndall Sachs gave full recognition and praise to Australia Pavilion about what it achieved in the past during our interview.

In the past 100 days, 4.5 million tourists have visited the Australia Pavilion (This number is equivalent to the total population in Sydney), average daily number of visitors reaches 47000. Lyndall Sachs told reporters that all the business activities organized by Australia Pavilion had been over one hundred and twenty-four, showing the diversity, depth and breadth. of Australian economy. Especially in the fields of nano science and education, Australia is among the best of the successful candidates in the world. Many of Austrlian universities belong to the world’s one hundred top universities. With the joint efforts of all the exhibitors and Lyndall Sachs, the activities prepared by Australia Pavilion are not only vivid in form but also rich in content. "To share experience from the Expo", Queensland Theme Week opened in June. The President of Life and Physical Institute from Western Australia University talked about how to produce innovation and research leaders in the context of globalization. Lyndall Sachs left me two clear impressions after the interview. One is that as Commissioner-General for Australia, she loves her motherland very much and cares the good image of it at any time. The other is that she treasures Sino-Australia relationship and friendship between two countries. Days in and days out, she makes unremitting efforts to strengthen friendship and cooperation as the time goes on.
On April 9 this year, she left Australia for Shanghai to do her duty. She was full of energy and eloquent while answering the media’s questions. She said: " Australians may seem rather lazy: lying on the rich natural resources. They don’t do their work very hard. However, as a matter of fact Australians are very high level of education, we are not lazy. We want to change that impression. In fact, we work very hard. It can be proved by economic success, national success, and the success of Australia Pavilion. We do not simply show Australia customs. Australia is not only a big country with extensive resources, but also a modern country filled with creative and diverse. We expect that the Chinese people know us much better. In science, education and other areas Australia ranks very high in the world. " On the day before she left Australia, she was too busy to sleep any more. At the time she accepted the interview, she was just in jet lag uncomfortablely. What we see from her is not laziness, but hard –working and tenacity characteristic of Australians.
Australia Pavilion’s mascot is a kookaburra called "Peng-Peng" instead of well-known kangaroo or koala. Why? Lyndall Sachs said that the kingfisher reflects the unique characteristics of Australian people, and shows the lifestyle of Australian people, let people jump out of old ideas. Chinese people come to know Australia, may only remains in the kangaroos, koalas, as well as vast desert or rich mineral resources. However, Australia Pavilion wishes to show a deep level of Australia. No matter when visitors come, they will have new discoveries and new experiences.
Lyndall Sachs sincerely said that Australia is willing to present economy depth and innovation to China. At present cooperations between China and Australia mostly concentrated in mining development, resources and other traditional areas. She hopes the two countries have more to explore and communicate in agriculture, information technology, tourism, education and other fields in order to obtain future cooperation. Economic and trade relations between the two countries formed by the Expo will develop and continue long. The relationship between China and Australia is a long-term relationship, we know that many countries are competing for Chinese enterprises, but we have collaborative relationship with China, we will work together to ensure that two friendly countries continue to grow such existing relationship.
