無奈 doesn't necessarily mean depressing, it can be helpless, it can be you are forced to do
something that you don't like, in this case I think he wanted to say 外面的世界並不如意,
so the translation
"The world outside isn't as I wished. "

You feel the world outside is so splendid

wo hui zai zheli zhongxin de zhufu ni

Thanks for those changes. Good suggestion for 外面的世界很无奈。And I think you've got
the meaning out less awkwardly than me. The dictionary has the expression 无可无奈 meaning 'to
have no alternative'. I suppose you could say 'the world outside offers no choices'. But it
doesn't really fit the mood of the song, I think. Then a Chinese friend told me that 无奈 in
this song can be interpreted as being the opposite of 精彩....

Yeah, I've got the link stored in my favorites file. I haven't listened to much Chinese music, but
(after listening to that song) I'm starting to realize that I can actually understand a lot of the
lyrics. Is there a good place that I can download songs from or is there a good site to buy
chinese cds from?

I'm only asking because I am brand new when it comes to Chinese music and have no idea where to
begin.

Have you ever used WinMX (a p2p program to download MP3), http://www.winmx.com/ , you can make a
search (better be in Traditional Chinese BIG5 code), you can download quite a lot of songs. Most
songs are from Hong Kong or Taiwan, not much from mainland China.

I run on a Macintosh most times. Would that matter much? And are most songs in Mandarin or in
Cantonese or Taiwanese?

Edit: Okay, yeah..so it won't work on my Mac. Does anyone know of anything similar to that but for
a Mac? Or something that uses Unix perhaps?

Another way to find a song, it works sometimes, though more time consuming.

Go to http://www.google.com.hk/

search "Chinese websites only",

then try "外面的世界 mp3" (without quotation marks).

Google supports search in Trad/Simp unicode, so it doesn't matter if you use Trad or Simpl system.
