Julie Ragolia began studying the culture of style at an early age, traveling within several of fashion’s sub-genres throughout her youth in New York City. Discovered by a staffer at MTV on the heels of her first published fashion editorial, Julie was brought in to develop the fashion styles of the network’s VJs and celebrity hosts. Soon afterward she moved into publications, working under the fashion direction of W Magazine. Julie has been a fashion contributor to some of the industry’s most illustrious magazines, including both US and international editions of Vogue and W, Interview, Details, L’Officiel, and Vanity Fair. She has held post as Contributing Fashion Editor to Fader Magazine and as Fashion Director of CITY Magazine, where she was hired to rebrand and reshape the magazine’s fashion content. Julie has defined the fashion styles for numerous celebrities and musicians, including the Killers, David and Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan, Sean Combs, All-American Rejects, and more. Julie also serves as a design consultant for such fashion labels as Carlos Campos, Riviera Club, Shelly Steffee, and Bespoken. Julie’s unique approach to style inspired famed fashion blogger, Scott Schuman, to select her as the cover subject of The Sartorialist, Schuman’s first published collection of photographic works. Her personal style has also been the subject of feature articles in Style.com, I-D, Page Six (voted “One of the top 25 best dressed New Yorkers”), Fudge (Japan), The Traveler (Korea), BOAO (China), Purple Diary, and New York Magazine.

In addition to fashion, Julie holds a strong presence in the arts, working both as a curator and consultant to such companies and institutions as Hermès and the Museum of Arts and Design. Forming creative partnerships and collaborations, Julie has developed projects with such artists as Terence Koh, Nate Lowman, Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha, Stuart Semple, Agathe Snow, and more. She is also co-founder and curator of PLAYGROUND, an independent collective that explores and celebrates the experiential relationship between fashion and art through exhibition, installation, and custom artwork collections. Playground launched in 2007 at Anna Kustera Gallery in New York. Subsequent hosts of Playground included Colette in Paris, Selfridges in London, and the MOCA Museum in Los Angeles. Two copies of Playground 1 are in the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
