我的巴黎之旅- Trips to Paris
luyued 发布于 2011-06-24 20:25 浏览 N 次My last European travel blog for Paris is written in English.
In total, I had been to Paris for two times, the first time in early Autumn 2008, the second time in summer this year. According to my traveling experience, the best season to travel Paris is early Autumn or late spring, cause summer can be extremely hot for tourists and winter can not suitable to feel the most beautiful Paris for tourists.
The Romantic capital of France, Paris, is one of the Europe's most stimulating cities. It lies in the heart industrial northern of France. As for specific destination, Paris is the outstanding center for art, fashion, business and gastromy, with its stunning buildings and atmosphere. Paris is one of the few cities that tourists would not like to miss in Europe.
As for me, Paris has a lot of meanings, French-speaking city, pretty chanson music hometown, elegant well-dressed ladies, fascinating nightlife, delicious French cooking, awesome architectures and cultural monuments & museums. Therefore, within the limited-length stay in Paris, I planned my journey to paris in advance and tried everywhere I could go. I felt very satisfied with these two trips. I really enjoyed those days when I stayed in Paris.
It is not possible to see everything that Paris has to offer in one or two trips. You can plan the journey where you are mostly interested in. What follows is my selective and subjective taste of Paris' highlights:
Le Cordon Bleu Paris: one of the best cooking schools in the world. ( Julia Child's home school; Hollywood movie
Notre Dame de Paris: one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in France and in Europe. (take metro line 4 to get off the stop in cite or Saint-Michel Notre Dame) .
Latin quater: close to Notre Dame, situated on the left bank of the River Seine, around the Sorbonne University.
The Louvre: the best place to see the art of the traditional of the kind, home of Mona Lisa, Venus and Nike.
Musee d'Orsay: the world-wide largest extensive collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces such as Monet, Manet, Van Gogh.
Jardin du Luxembourg: the most beautiful and popular park in Paris, connecting the Louvre with the Concorde.
Invalides: the military museum of the army of France, previously used as the hospital and a retirement home for war veterans; also the burial site for Napoleon Bonaparte. (take the metro line 8 to get off the stop in Invalides)
The Eiffel Tower: the tallest building in Paris, a must-go for Paris tourists, a global icon of France. (take the metro line 6 to get off the stop in Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel)
River Siene: the mother river for Paris. Paris is divided the two by the River Seine. Each side has very different feel to it. The left side of Seine, famous for touristic and industrial life. The right side of Seine, famous for business and political life. (tip: book Bateaux Parisiens river cruise, flexiblely departing from Notre Dame or Eiffel Tower every day)
Arc de Triomphe: for the best view of the Paris, try standing on the top of the Arc de Triomphe, you will then truly appreciate the precedent great city planner who created the most beautiful and modern city in the world, 12 boulevards can be seen from up there. This comes to be the blueprint for the future town of planning in the world.
Champs-Elysees: the ever-popular strolling boulevard in Paris, full of wolrd-branded shops, pubs, restaurants, musical halls and cabarets, it offers an entertaining introduction to the city. Lido seems the most popular cabaret here. (Champs-Elysees will be open until mid-night in summer, very nice)
Opera: around nearby contains countless shopping stores, such as Lafayette, apple store, Fragonard, world-branded shops.
Basilique du Sacre-Coeur: a popular and colorful landmark in Paris, the basilica is located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the Paris. The lanes leading to Basilique are full of souvenir shops and painting shops. Around 'Place du Tertre' (painter villige) and 'mouline rouge' nearby.
Palace of Versailles: is a royal and awesome palace in Versailles town, one of the must-goes for Paris tourists, is situated the southwest of Paris. (take RER to get off the stop in Versailles)
Fontainebleau: is well-known for its large and scenic forest of Fontainebleau and the palace of Fontainbleu. Around Barbizon nearby, where world-famous painters Rousseau and Millet lived there before. (take RER to get off the stop in Fontainebleau–Avon, and then take local bus a1 to the chateau)
China Town: located in the 13th district in paris, cross three metro stations.
All in all, Paris is one of the great walking city in the planet of the earth. Every tour site is connected with the other. Also the public transportation are well organized such as underground Metro and RER (tickets can be devided by single ticket, day ticket, week ticket, P.S, I prefer the day ticket regarding my journey), No. 73 is the best sightseeing bus.
Traveling is really about the people you moved all the way. Delicious French food, friendly French people. colorful nightlife, incredible architecture, Paris left me a unforgetable memory in all life.
